Cropwise Protector is Syngenta Digital's flagship product, of extremely high complexity, aiding farmers' decision-making. It monitors over 37 million hectares across more than 3,000 farms in 8 countries around the world.

The problem
Sugar cane managers need to monitor their crops to identify issues such as soil pests. However, they faced the complexity of gathering and cross-referencing diverse data to build an efficient monitoring system. What could we do to enhance monitoring at sugar cane mills?

The solution
A feature that simplifies the complex monitoring process, proposing intelligent alternatives for managers to monitor various types of infestations. Through a streamlined flow, managers can input data and receive recommendations on where and when to conduct monitoring.

My role
I participated end-to-end in a highly challenging project alongside Breno, senior designer. I also collaborated with the development team and the product manager to create an enhanced experience for high-level clients.

Impact
Previously, managers could spend up to a week planning monitoring routes. Now, they can resolve it in just 10 minutes. Moreover, monitoring routes become more efficient, with reduced gasoline expenses, more time for other activities, and intuitive decision-making. The project was designed to scale, impacting monitoring across other crops and countries, thereby increasing user engagement and confidence in the product.

How I Achieved This Result
Through agile methodology, we completed the project in 15 days. Following the triple diamond approach, we developed user interface concepts, conducted discovery and testing, defined problems and scope, designed interactions, and facilitated handoff.

Brazil's agricultural complexity posed a challenge. Understanding the variety of tropical climates, especially sugar cane cultivation with its irregular cycles and complex logistics.
The product deals with many uncertainties, making it challenging to cover all scenarios and adapt to a diverse audience, particularly as it needed to be scalable.
Defining personas in sugar cane culture was difficult due to its unique characteristics compared to other crops.
