NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement): I cannot share all information due to confidentiality reasons, but I can provide general details about my involvement in the project. The interfaces presented do not replicate the original content; I have altered information to preserve confidentiality. I can provide more details during a secure job interview.

Overview
This research aimed to deepen the UX Chapter's understanding of the transition process from the Proof of Concept (POC) phase to the full project within the design team's workflow. Our focus was on the interaction between different designers and teams involved in this process. The research helped align the process with the actual needs of designers and Product Owners (PO), improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the workflow.

Our role
To optimize this transition, I collaborated with another UX Researcher, Potyra Dornelas, to conduct the research within the stipulated timeframe. Throughout the process, we sought to understand the experiences, challenges, and areas for improvement through interviews with design team members and POs. After analyzing the results, we designed possible solutions and presented our findings to the UX Chapter.

Research question
How can we improve the transition process from the Proof of Concept (POC) phase to the full project in the design team's workflow to ensure greater efficiency and satisfaction for designers?

Research objective
Understand the experiences, challenges, and opportunities for improvement in the transition process from the POC phase to the full project within the design team's workflow.
Understand the experiences, challenges, and opportunities for improvement in the transition process from the POC phase to the full project within the design team's workflow.

Specific objectives
Identify the main difficulties faced by designers when receiving a project after the POC phase.
Evaluate the clarity of responsibilities and expectations communicated during the transition from the POC phase to the full project.
Understand the specific needs of designers to facilitate integration and performance after the POC phase.
Analyze the workload and identify potential overload points during the transition.
Provide insights on how to unify the work approach for various projects and avoid professional burnout.

Data Analysis
For didactic purposes, we categorized the responses into three stages: before discovery, during discovery, and after discovery. In each of these stages, we identified pain points, the impact and value that the improvement would have on the company, interview quotes to bring raw data, and summarized solutions to these problems.

Methodology
We conducted qualitative research over a month, from March 1 to March 30, 2024, using semi-structured interviews with pre-prepared questions for POs and designers: 14 designers and 6 POs were invited to participate. The interviews were conducted individually, recorded (with consent), and subsequently analyzed. The qualitative approach allowed a deep understanding of participants' experiences and perceptions, enabling the identification of valuable and specific insights.

Designing Possible Solutions
Create a hand-off checklist to verify which items might be missing.
Develop a better place for documentation.
Use Kanbanize more effectively for a holistic view of the process.
Design the project transition flow and clearly define the responsibilities of each member.

Challenges
Lean scope and adaptation: Starting at the new company, I was challenged by a very limited research scope. As I was getting familiar with the environment and operations, I had to expand the research to gain a full understanding of the context, which required careful navigation of the investigation's limits.
Restricted access to senior executives: The research involved questions that required information from senior company members, to whom I did not have direct access. This limitation restricted the depth of my investigations and, consequently, the insights obtained.
Lack of research infrastructure: The absence of a dedicated research team was a major challenge. We did not have automated systems for transcribing interviews, forcing us to perform the process manually. Despite this, I strived to maintain a high level of professionalism in documenting and developing methods and processes.
Recognition of research value: The company was still in the process of recognizing the value of UX research. This required us to be extremely careful in conducting the investigation, ensuring that we used efficient methods and extracted meaningful analyses that demonstrated the impact of our findings.

Learnings
Time management and analytical rigor: I worked closely with UX Researcher Potyra Dornelas, from whom I learned to better manage time and apply research techniques with analytical rigor. I learned to be more meticulous in analyzing responses and to pay close attention when creating research scripts.
Organization and work methods: Collaboration with designers taught me how they organize themselves when starting new projects. I better understood their work methods and how they deal with the lack of information, adapting their approaches to ensure project success.
Structuring viable scopes: With Product Owners (POs), I learned the importance of structuring a viable scope. They shared their experiences and challenges in creating user stories with minimal scopes, offering me insights into the collaboration between designers and POs.
Developing solutions based on analysis: Throughout the research, I developed the ability to design possible solutions based on response analysis. This ensured that the research had a clear and applicable value when presented, facilitating the implementation of concrete improvements.

Shall we work together?
